Laryngeal disorders

Larynx is an important organ which is located on the windpipe in the middle part of the neck with speaking swallowing and coughing functions. One or more of these functions can be disrupted in laryngeal disorders. Laryngeal disorders can be infectious and non-infectious. Mostly, acute laryngitis is observed among those which are infectious.

Acute laryngitis is mainly observed after upper respiratory tract infection and heavy use of sound. Non-infectious disorders can be benign and malignant. Mostly, polyps and nodules are observed in vocal cord among benign tumors. Malignant tumors are mainly observed in patients who use more cigarette at middle age and above.

Mostly, changes in the pathologies of voice are observed in laryngeal disorders. The person who has choking in his / her voice more than 2 weeks should consult to otolaryngologist. First of all, endoscopic examination should be conducted, if necessary, additional examination methods should be used.
